Event Description:
The Wilmette Historical Museum will host a virtual lecture with historian Ann Durkin Keating about the early history of Chicago as experienced through the eyes of Juliette Kinzie and as preserved in Kinzie’s writings as well as in other historical sources. The lecture, based on Ms. Keating’s book The World of Juliette Kinzie, will provide an insight into the city’s growth from Kinzie’s earliest visit in 1831 to her death just a year before the Great Chicago Fire in 1871.
